The “Pandoteira” project team, together with the Kato Pirgos Tillirias Local Authority, are organizing a presentation titled: “Natura 2000: Generating awareness among stakeholders”.
The presentation will take place on Saturday March 12th, 2022, at the Pirgos Tillirias Primary School, at 17:00 and all members of the local community and neighboring communities are invited to participate.
Purpose of this presentation
The purpose of this presentation is to:
- Inform members of the Local Authority, as well as the local population about the “Pandoteira” project and what actions are scheduled to take place within their area.
- Generate awareness concerning the importance of the Natura 2000 network.
- Introduce participants to the concept of clustering and the commonalities and characteristics of the Natura 2000 sites which form their cluster and surround their community/ies. In more detail, the special characteristics of their cluster will be presented, including designating species and habitats, their conservation status and the geographical expansion of the cluster’s Natura 2000 sites.
- Touch upon the importance of forests and the necessity to protect them.

This presentation will be led by Terra Cypria-the Cyprus Conservation Foundation, which is the lead partner of Action E2.1: “Set up awareness-raising and information activities for targeted stakeholders” and Task 1: “Systematically inform the stakeholders on the progress made by the project”. In addition, the Forestry Department, which is also a partner in this action, will make an introductory presentation concerning the Forests of Cyprus and their importance.
