Our project’s 2nd Scientific Committee meeting took place on November 15, in Nicosia. During the meeting the progress of the Pandoteira project was presented and various topics were discussed. These included the procedure for the completion of the deliverables, as well as the role of the Scientific Committee and its mode of operation.
The following day (November 16), a field excursion took place at three Natura 2000 sites, where conservation actions will be implemented in the framework of the Pandoteira project. These Natura 2000 sites were Oroklini Lake, Cape Greco and the Liopetri National Forest Park. During the visit, the Scientific Committee members discussed:
- At Oroklini Lake: the management of flora on the artificial islets for the benefit of bird species, as well as methods to contain reed.
- At Cape Greco: potential measures that could be applied to protect and preserve important flora species.
- Liopetri National Forest Park: procedures and timing of implementation for the conservation actions targeting temporary ponds.
