Purpose of the event
The purpose of the event is to:
- Inform the local population about the “Pandoteira” project and the actions which are scheduled to take place within the specific area.
- Generate awareness concerning the importance of the Natura 2000 network.
- Introduce participants to the concept of clustering and the commonalities and characteristics of the Natura 2000 sites which form their cluster and surround their community. In more detail, the special characteristics of their cluster will be presented, including designating species and habitats, their conservation status and the geographical expansion of the Natura 2000 sites which form their cluster.
- Help participants grasp the importance of the specific Natura 2000 site and its biodiversity – particularly so for the birds found at this site.
This event is led by Terra Cypria-the Cyprus Conservation Foundation, which is the lead partner of Action E2.1: “Set up awareness-raising and information activities for targeted stakeholders” and Task 1: “Systematically inform the stakeholders on the progress made by the project”.
